Meet Dr. Mat
I completed medical school in 1972 at the University of Chile in Santiago, Chile.
My postgraduate studies in internal medicine and respiratory medicine were completed at McGill University Teaching Hospital and the University of Manitoba.
Having completed these studies, I obtained certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Pulmonary Disease andRoyal College Certification in 1984.
Since then I have regularly participated in professional upgrading and attended international seminars and meetings to stay on top of relevant medical advances.
Additionally, as teaching faculty at the University of Toronto, I interact with and supervise medical students, residents and fellows on a regular basis, all of which allows me to remain current in the practice of medicine.
My hospital affiliation is with St. Michaels Hospital, and I have consultation privileges at Shouldice Hospital providing preoperative medical assessment.
I am also a consultant in respiratory medicine for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
Recently, I have been appointed Medical Assessor for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT).
Currently, I am enrolled in a postgraduate web-based course in the University of Montreals Insurance Medicine and Medicolegal Expertise Program.
My assistant, Nancy, and I take pride in providing a professional service to you as a patient.
As a patient, you can count on prompt and dedicated attention to improve your health.
